In art, Chiaroscuro is a technique that highlights strong contrasts between light and dark to create a sense of volume, depth, and drama.
Reframe Chiaroscuro
I reframed chiaroscuro by abstracting classical paintings into flowing, animated curves in p5.js. This softens the original details while highlighting the light–dark contrast, offering an engaging, and contemporary way to experience the technique.
Interaction
Through mouse X-axis interaction across the canvas, this project demonstrates a dynamic metamorphosis between classical chiaroscuro oil paintings and a reimagined, code-based interpretation. It offers a deeper understanding of how light and dark contrast functions in both physical and digital realms, using both realistic and abstract approaches.
